22,254. Dronsfield, J. Sept. 26. Carding - engines. - Relates to machines for attaching card-filleting having metal fasteners to carding-engine flats. The flat bar A, Fig. 2, and the filleting B are placed between rails or jaws b, b<1>, the jaw b<1> being movable transversely to grip the flat by means of screws c after the flat has been properly bedded by means of clamps. A carriage g, in two portions, is adapted to be traversed along the rails b, b<1> by means of sprocket chains and lever on antifriction rollers h, i, and is provided with quadrants g<1> having guide grooves g<2> in which take main brackets g<4> capable of movement in the guide grooves g<2> through an angle of about 45 degrees. Mounted in grooves in the main brackets are auxiliary brackets g<12>, to which are attached, in a flexible manner by means of the bolt n and spring n<1>, bearers g<13> carrying the rolling-down bowls o. When the fasteners have been partly turned down by traversing the carriage, the main brackets g<4> are turned up through an angle of about 45 degrees and the rolling-down is completed by again traversing the carriage. The clamp for bedding the flat &c. in the jaws consists of V-shaped legs d, Fig. 5, which engage trunnions d<2> and a screw block e. In a preferred modification of the clamp, the legs dare pivoted and take under projections on the rails or jaws.
