Roller - and - breast mills; roller mills; ball and like mills.-Relates to apparatus for grinding or crushing lime &c., of the kind comprising a cylinder A formed of longitudinal bars C, an external grinding-roller I, a top cover N, and a bottom cover or sieve W, with or without a loose internal grinding - roller M. The bars C are secured singly or in pairs in recesses in the end disks B by wedges D, E, which are retained in position by rings F bolted to the disks. Longitudinal bars T are secured in slots S on the inside of the cover N by taper - headed bolts U and nuts V, and, to allow the cover to be adjusted towards or from the cylinder A, the bolts R by means of which it is secured to the supports P pass through slotted lugs 0 on the cover. The square or other bars X of the bottom cover or sieve Ware spaced apart and secured on the semicircular supporting - bars Y by wedgeheaded bolts Z, which pass between them and through the bars Y, and are provided with nuts a. Wedges c between the sole-plate d and the bearings b of the shaft G allow the cylinder A to be adjusted. The material is fed by a feedtray i, which is agitated by a rod operated by an eccentric shaft k driven by a belt k' from the shaft G, and is partly ground between the roller I and bars C and passes into the cylinder, any material remaining on the exterior being carried round and ground between the bars C and the cover-bars T, and then between the bars C and the sieve-bars X. The material passing to the inside of the cylinder is ground by the loose roller M, and passes between the bars C to the sieve W, where it is again ground and discharged.
