Scaffolding and staging.-Relates to scaffold ties, in which the binding-ropes or chains are fastened to hooks on plates loosely mounted on nuts adjusted on screw-threaded rods, and consists in providing, between the plates h and the nuts d, antifriction devices such as ball bearings g or rings of smooth rust - proof metal, for example brass, whereby the plates are prevented from rotating when the nuts are rotated for tightening the chains or ropes. The hooks l for the chains or ropes are constructed so that the extremities are behind the plane of the outer face of the plate h. The plates are prevented from moving longitudinally on the nuts by screws j, or collars, or by lugs o on the rear faces of the plates engaging the rear faces of the nuts.
