Protectors, construction of.-A resilient heel pad is provided on its upper side with a dished thin metal base-plate 1 of the contour of the pad, and provided with one or more flanges, rims, or projections 2, which exextend through the resilient material and form wearing - surfaces. The plate is provided with holes 4 for nails, and some of the holes are formed through projections 9 extending to the surface of the pad and forming wearing-surfaces. The plate may be formed with a large opening in the centre and smaller openings in the sides, and eyelets with flared ends may be fixed in some of the holes to grip the resilient material.
