Abstract
19,759. McClelland, S. Aug. 24. Balancing; planes, construction of. -In an aeroplane of the type in which the frame is rigidly attached to the supporting - plane, two sets of hit-or-miss valves are provided in the planes, each set being actuated by a pendulum. Preferably, holes b are made in the plane, and a sliding frame c, having corresponding holes e, is moved in a direction parallel to itself by a pendulum h. If the aeroplane is tilted to a dangerous angle, the valves at the higher side are opened, and the support on this side reduced. The rod i extends to the operator's seat, and it has a slide j within which the rod of the pendulum is free to move. The spring l holds the slide in such a position that it does not limit the motion of the rod, but permits the operator to open the valves at pleasure.
