Sliding - jaw wrenches.-Relates to sliding - jaw wrenches in which the sliding jaw is provided with a transversely - sliding spring-detent normally engaging with a rack on the shank, and adapted to be disengaged by the thumb for rapid adjustment of the movable jaw. The movable jaw 9 is provided with a U-shaped extension 10, on the lower end of which, or on a head 11 thereon, are forced transverse grooves 12 and ribs 13 engaged by ribs 16 and grooves 17 respectively on the locking-block 14. The locking-block, which envelopes the shank, has a single locking-tooth for engagement with the shank teeth 8, and a knurled finger-piece to which is attached a leaf spring for maintaining the locking-block normally in locking position.
