Abstract
14,702. Heenan & Froude, and Wheal, W. June 18. [Cognate Application, 29,422/10.] Aerated sprayers.-A spraying-nozzle has a chamber formed of conical, elliptical, or spherical shape at the outlet end, provided with a small orifice at the apex thereof. Separate supplies of liquid and air are forced at high and equal pressures into the chamber, which is filled with slag wool or other fibrous or porous material. Fig. 1 shows the nozzle chamber A, the air inlet C and the water inlet D being so arranged that the two jets impinge. The chamber is filled with slag-wool &c. E, and the outlet portion of the chamber is formed of conical &c. shape to direct the mixed air and liquid to the outlet B. Fig. 3 shows the liquid tank G supplied with compressed air from an air chamber M and communicating with the nozzle by two pipes H, J so that the liquid and air are under equal pressures. The inlet and outlet orifices C, B are fitted with gauze F.
