Abstract

[Addition to 28,297/09.] Filters with horizontal filtering partitions or layers; filters, cleansing.-The apparatus for clarifying gelatine and other liquors described in the parent Specification, wherein the liquor is passed downwards through bone-black or animal charcoal previously purified by steam and hot water successively, is modified as shown in Fig. 1. Perforated tubular rings 18 for supplying steam are inserted at intervals along the container, and valve-controlled tubular means are provided for steam admission and removal. A cap 16, with perforations 16<c> to diffuse steam, and others 16<b> to discharge liquid from the container, is fitted in the base of the container, which has preferably the shape of an inverted truncated cone.
