Abstract

14,345. Siemens-Schuckertwerke. June 14, 1909, [Convention date]. Dynamos and motors combined for transmitting power; regulation, automatic systems and apparatus for. - Continuous - current motors are regulated for constant speed by a quick - action regulator which periodically short-circuits a resistance and so affects the excitation of the motor or of the generator supplying the motor. The trembler coil z of the regulator is connected in series with the resistance r<2>, Fig. 1, and the field winding m of the motor which is supplied from the mains P, N. The other coil s of the regulator is connected with the armature of a dynamo t on the motor shaft. The field coil of the dynamo is supplied from the mains P, N through iron resistances w. The contacts k, l, which are operated by the coils z, s, are arranged when closed to shortcircuit the resistance r<2>. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the motor m is supplied by a dynamo d driven by a three-phase motor b. The trembler coil z is connected to the dynamo d through the resistance r<3>, and the potential coil s is connected to the armature of the machine t through the resistance r<1>. The regulator contacts periodically short-circuit the resistance r<2> in the field circuit of the dynamo d. The arrangement can be adjusted for a greater speed by increasing the resistance r' in circuit with the potential coil s. The arms of the resistances r<1>, r<2>, r<3> are connected so that the three are adjusted simultaneously, the resistance r<2> being decreased when the others are increased. An exciter e on the dynamo shaft supplies the field windings.
