Abstract

Folding paper. -A rotary folder, of the kind in which the blades are constantly rotated on their carriers by gears engaging an internally-toothed ring, is constructed so as to prevent defects in the working of the blades due to the action of centrifugal force at high speeds and so as to overcome the tendency of the shafts to bind in their bearings and to prevent play and wear. As shown, the shafts 11 of the folding-blades are mounted in a carrier 1, and the blades are rotated, as the carrier rotates, by means of gears 15, secured by screws 16 to hubs 13 on the shafts 11, and a fixed internally toothed ring gear 16<1>. The effect of centrifugal force on the shafts 11 is controlled by circular bearers 18 on the ends of the shafts which run on a circular track 19 mounted in a recess in the gear 16<1>, the parts 18, 19 corresponding in size to the pitch circles of the gears 15, 16' respectively.
