Circulating or passing fluids through materials. - In liquid-circulation apparatus for bleaching yarns. in bobbins, cop, or other form, &c., the yarns are packed in a rectangular receptacle having two or more perforated walls, which receptacle can be turned upside down on trunnions, so as to reverse the direction of circulation with respect to the materials, and so procure a uniform bleaching action. A drum receptacle, provided with perforated catch trays 12, may be substituted for the rectangular chamber. The receptacle 7 can, further, be withdrawn from its casing 1 on to a truck, for more convenient charging and discharging, by providing a movable part 18 to the wooden trunnion-support 10 so that, the part 18 being removed, the trunnions 8 can be run along on the support 10 by means of rollers. In use, the liquid is pumped up from a lower tank 2 into an upper tank 5 from which it flows through a perforated bottom 6, one of the perforated sides 11 of the receptacle 7, the materials therein, the opposite perforated side 11, and so back to the lower tank 2. When reversal is desired the receptacle 7 is rotated through 180 degrees, as by hand-gear 14, 15, 16, 17, or otherwise. All four of the sides of the receptacle 7 may be perforated and in one side a door 13 is provided through which the material may be packed, either loose or in perforated crates.
