Feeding-appliances.-In a machine for mixing, crushing, grinding, and blending sands and clays, or other granular and powdered materials, the ingredients, before passing in succession through a sifting-screen, mixing-trough provided with rotary conveying and mixing paddles, and roller grinding-apparatus, are delivered into the hoppers b, c, d of a feeder and proportioner a, and forced by a screw conveyer e in the bottom of each hopper into a shoot h leading into the boot i of an elevator j, which transfers the material to the sifting-screen.
