Abstract

9486. Frenot, L. D. April 19. Locking nuts.-A washer is provided with two spring tongues a, Fig. 6, which engage with a recessed corrugated face c of the nut. The tongues have rounded enlargements b to engage the corrugations, and extra pressure on the wrench will unscrew the nut. When applied to a rail joint as shown in Fig. 1, the washer is prevented from turning by the provision of an extended flat edge; in other cases other means are used.
