Abstract

9468. Hathaway, E. F., and Lea, C. April 24, 1909, [Convention date]. Guiding yarns in warp form.-In machine for spooling the tuft-yarns for Axminster and like carpets, a comb 1, Fig. 19, is mounted in a fixed position in a holder 8, which is raised by cam-levers 12 operated by a rod and handle 16 after the spool is filled so that the teeth 2 enter between the yarns. A channelled strip 19, shown in Fig. 4, is then placed over the points of the teeth and secured to the comb by a spring catch 20<Î>. The comb and spool are then removed, and the comb may 'be secured to the spool by spring devices 21, Fig. 4, having loops 22 for engaging the spool pintles 23. The comb holds the yarns 3 separated and prevents unwinding from the spool while it is being transferred to a tube threading-machine.
