8353. Harrison, G., [Maschinenfabrik Sack Ges.]. April 6. Straightening. -In a rollstraightening machine, the bend which occurs at the first part of the plate, rod, or the like is corrected by a segment c, Fig. 4. The segment is adjustable, is spring or weight pressed, and may be replaced by a single arm, a star-wheel of suitable form, or a roller. In the lastmentioned form, the bearings k, Fig. 10, of a roller h are supported in a slot by links l. The links l are connected to links m, attached to a shaft n, on which is mounted an arm p. When the front part a of the work is bent down sufficiently, it encounters the arm p, which, through the linkage, raises the roller h to allow the work to pass. A roller or a fixed support may be mounted between the last straightening roller and the correcting element.
