Abstract

7424. Marks, E. C. R., [Spinnerei und Weberei Steinen Akt.-Ges.]. March 24. Bobbins &c.-In loom weft - replenishing mechanism wherein the weft ends coiled or spun upon the spool tubes or on the spindles are gripped, drawn off, and held by grippers until the spools have been inserted into the shuttles, the spool tubes, when electrical devices are used, are made of spring metal slit lengthways and formed with steps, Fig. 4, or with grooves to prevent the inner layers of thread from slipping. To hold the metal spools at their bases, a spring 56 may be fixed in the collar 54 of the spindle so as to snap into a recess in the spool tube. Wooden spool tubes may be provided with a metal ferrule 59, Fig. 6, to make them suitable for use with electric feeler devices, the points of the tubes being made steeply conical to facilitate the drawing-off of the thread.
