Abstract

6544. Martin, C. March 15. Sliding sashes removable from frame.-A portion 2; of the inside lining 1, carrying the lower half of the stop bead 3 and also a part 7 of the pulley-stile, with'the lower half of the parting- bead 9, are detachable, and are secured by a screw or pin to the fixed parts of the frame. Tongue-and-groove joints 5,10 are made between the removable and fixed parts, portions being made removable at one or both sides of the frame. The sash-cord attachment for the upper sash is shown in Fig. 9, in which the knotted end of the cord is inserted in an aperture 17 of a slotted plate 15 sunk in the side of the stile. Fig. 11 shows the attachment for the lower sash in which the cord is secured to a flange 20 of a plate 19, a knob 21 on which is inserted in an aperture 22 of a slotted plate 23, the flange 20 entering a recess in the sash stile.
