6369. West, W. March 14. Stiffeners for caps consist of a strip a of steel, cane, &c. running round the inside of the crown and having one or more depending supports f at the back or sides. The ends of the strip are joined by a loop b secured to one of them and sliding over the other; and the supports f are fixed to the cap by stitching or by inserting between the lining and the material of the cap.
