Abstract

25,948. Lion, A. Nov. 21. Shirts &c.-The pocket of the neckband is open at the top and bottom, and is made by attaching a reinforcing-tab 2 to the neck-strip 1, Fig. 1, at the top and bottom edges, after which the tube as formed is turned inside out. Strips 6, 7, Fig. 3, are sewed to the top edge of the strip 1, leaving the top edge of the reinforced end free. The strip 7 is then turned about its sewed edge and brought against the strip 6. In a modification, shown in Figs. 7, 8, and 9, one half of a lining 22 is attached to the top edge of the neck-strip 21, and the other half 22<1> of the lining is attached to strips 23, 24, Fig. 7. The bottom edge of the portion 22<1> of the lining is inturned and sewed to the inturned bottom edges of the strips 23; 24. The strip 21 is then brought over on to the strip 23, and in this position the top edges of the parts 21, 23, 24 are sewed together, the seam avoiding the previously connected edges of the strips 22, 23, 24, but being deflected to join all the end edges of the strips 21, 22, 23, 24, Figs. 7 and 8. The strip 21 is then turned about its sewed edge on to the strip 24, after which a seam 32 is run along the top edge of the strips, as shown in Fig. 9. In a further modification, one half of the strip 22 may be sewed at its top and bottom edges to the strip 21, and the tube so formed turned inside out, after which the top edge of the other half of the lining is sewed to the upper edges of the strips 23, 24, and the neckband completed as before. In another modification, the tab 2, Fig. 1, is replaced by a strip running the full length of the band.
