Abstract
3470. Hollingworth, E., [Crompton & Knowles Loom. Works]. Feb. 12. Pile-fabric looms.-In a pile-wire motion for a loom for weaving tapestry carpets &c., the drum 15, which drives the rope 16 connected to the pile-wire carriage 18, is actuated by means of a pinion and a rack 10 connected by an adjustable link 9 to a crank-arm 8 on a uniformly-rotating shaft 6. The plane of motion of the rack 10 is arranged above the shaft 6, so that the rack 10 causes the pile wires to be inserted more quickly than they are withdrawn.
