Abstract

3214. Wheelwright, E. W. Feb. 9. [Addition to 21,866/06.] Matches.-Orange-red hydride of phosphorus P9H2 formed, for example, by heating the hydride P2H6 referred to in the parent Specification, is used in igniting compositions. A composition consisting of P9H2, sulphur, zinc oxide, chalk, glass, potassium chlorate, glue, and dye, may be used. The hydride may be employed to increase the sensitiveness of compositions containing amorphous phosphorus or other less active materials, and may be in the form of partly decomposed P12H6.
