7114. Trachsel, E. F. April 4. Matches.-A composition for use in making matches and the like consists mainly of lead hyposulphate and potassium bichromate or other bichromate of an alkali. Lead acetate or other lead salts may be substituted, in certain cases, for lead hyposulphite. The composition, when being used as an igniting-composition for matches, may be mixed with potassium chlorate, sulphur, antimony sulphide, manganese peroxide, and a binding-agent such as glue, gelatine, or gum arabic.
