Abstract

2054. Waigh, F. Jan. 27. Luggage-carriers for motor-cycles &c. are constructed in the form of a segmental box e, which fits over the wheel and telescopes over a trough-shaped segmental member a secured to the frame by clips b, c. The box carries stays o, p, q, which are bolted to the machine at the lug r, an extension of the upper clip c being arranged to be passed through an eye s and to be secured to the box by a bolt t in that position wherein the stays q are vertical. The sides of the part a are fitted with oil-cans; the clips b, c are arranged to be adjustable for application to different types of frames. The box comprises sides f, bottom g, back h, top i, and lid j, an inner ledge l being provided to carry boxes, and the spaces m, n being furnished with tool-holders. Bags or boxes, arranged at the sides, are secured to the stays o by grooved feet a', and are supported at the top by rods x passing through eyes thereon, through the hinge-sleeves y of the doors, and through the eyes w of brackets u upon the main box e. Luggage may also be strapped to rods v, and soft articles may be secured to the side boxes by straps b<1> which are attached at the top to the doors and at the bottom to the boxes, so that the doors may be opened without removal of the articles.
