Abstract

1425. Horner, E. C. Jan. 19. Stays of the kind having one end pivoted to the lid or side of the box while the other end is slotted and slides on a projection on the other part are made of thin metal links C pivoted at c to the inner sides of a travelling trunk, so that a detachable tray may be used without necessitating a special shape to accommodate the stays. One or more flexible leaf springs D may be provided to assist in supporting the lid. The stay C is provided with a slot C<1> running on a projecting screw b. A curved metal stop B' may be provided to assist in guiding the stay. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the projection b is provided with a washer b<1> formed with a ridge or groove b<2>, which is adapted to engage a corresponding groove or ridge c<1> in the upper end of the stay. The leaf springs D are provided with stop pieces d and move in guide B<2>.
