Rests, leg &c.-An arm-chair has a seat frame 1 upholstered on both sides and hinged to the chair at 3 so that it may be opened out to form a couch, as shown in Fig. 2. The legs 4, when not in use, are concealed behind the chair-back, which is hinged at 6 and has a hinged flap 7 to fill the space a, b, which is occupied by the frame 1 when this forms the chair seat. The hinged back rests on stops 11, which may be carried by an iron framing mounted on the chair-back 5. The invention is applicable to any arm-chair having a straight front; when applied to chairs having wide arms running inwards, the arms are hinged so that they may be raised when the leg-rest portion is turned over.
