Abstract

Casings.-To enable air at different pressures to be drawn off simultaneously from a centrifugal fan, the fan is provided with a series of collecting-chambers in combination with a wheel having blades of differing radii. The invention may be combined with the inventions described in Specifications 9101/02, 4863/04, and 29,457/06, [all in Class 8, Air and gases, Compressing &c.]. The fan-wheel a, Fig. 1, has its blades stepped to provide three parts 1, 2, 3 of differing radii, delivering air into chambers b<1>, b<2>, b<3> formed by inwardly-extending partitions b<o>. The sides of the blades are preferably connected to annular plates c, and an inlet d is provided at each side. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the blades a discharge air at different parts of their periphery into different chambers b<1>, b<2>. Fig. 9 shows a fan-wheel discharging peripherally into a chamber b<1>, and from both sides into a common chamber b<2>.
