Abstract
29,795. Johnson, G. W., [Chemische Fabrik Griesheim-Elektron]. Dec. 20. Distilling potassium &c.-Alkali metals are distilled from a mixture of alkali sulphide and alkaline-earth carbide, the reaction being shown by the equation K2S + CaC2 = 2 K + 2 C + CaS. The sulphide may be obtained by heating the sulphate with carbon before the addition of the carbide. Specification 295/02 is referred to.
