Controlling-apparatus, arrangements of hand and foot gear in conjunction with; deflectable axle ends and intermediate connexions therefor. -Disks d shown in the plan view, Fig. 1, carry the brake members c, and are pivotally mounted together with the axle ends e on the ends of the main axle. The disks d at the opposite ends of the axle are connected so as to swivel together for steering by a rod g, the rotation of which effects the application of the brakes by means of cams or toggles f. Universal joints i are provided at each end of the rod g. The steering and brake - operating rods may be separate.
