Deflectable axle-ends; controlling-apparatus, arrangements of hand and foot gear in conjunction with.-Relates to combined steering, driving, and braking wheels for motor-vehicles of the type in which the universal joint and steering pivots are arranged in the plane of the wheels. Figs. 1 and 2 show a wheel in front and side elevation. The driving-axle a extends into a cylindrical member f, which engages the wheel hub through teeth m, and is driven by a universal joint having a pin c working in slots e. The wheel is carried in bearings g within the stub-axle j, which is annular in form and is pivoted in a fork of the fixed axle l. Lugs u, u<1> on the upper part of the stub-axle and the lower arm of the fork fit into corresponding sockets on the fork and the stub-axle respectively. A bolt x prevents disengagement of the stub-axle and the fork. The bearings g are retained by a plate k locked by a flange s on the member f, which is itself secured by a bolt n.
