Abstract
28,437. Wallach Bros., [Redin, A. W.]. Dec. 6. Punching-appliances. - A hand punch for perforating plates of metal &c. comprises a bifurcated stock having a handle, a punch slidably engaged in a hole in the upper bifurcation, a die adjustably and removably engaged in the lower bifurcation, a lever pivoted to lugs on the stock and removably connected at one end to the upper end of the punch, and at the other end to toggle links, and a cranked lever pivoted to the stock and connected with the toggles to operate the punch. The upper part 1 of the stock is bored vertically to receive a punch 3 having a ball head slidably engaged in an openended groove 7 in the end of the lever 6, which is pivoted at 4 to lugs 5 on the stock so that, by removing the pivot 4 and raising the lever 6 the punch may be disengaged and changed. The rear end of the lever is pivoted to the upper ends of the toggle-links 8, and is adapted to be raised for operating the punch by a twoarmed lever 10, pivoted in a recess at 13 and provided with a slot 14 in the end 11 to engage the centre pivot 15 of the toggle-links. The die is removable through the aperture in the lower bifurcation 2, and is adapted to be held at different heights by the engagement of a pin 16 in one of a number of peripheral slots in the die at different distances from its acting face.
