Abstract
27,057. Burton, C. D. Nov. 22. Single-acting suction-valveless pumps for viscous liquids.-In gravity feed pumps of the type in which liquid flows from an upper chamber through ports into the cylinder when the piston is raised, the ports are made in the form of inclined grooves. When pumping water, grease, &c. from a vessel in vacuo, liquid enters the chamber c by the pipe a, and flows down grooves f, cut obliquely to prevent scoring of the piston, into the cylinder. The ports g serve as guides for the piston. The supply vessel and the chamber c are connected by a pipe b to equalize the pressure.
