Abstract
26,140. Rollin, C., and Hedworth Barium Co. Dec. 18,1908. Barium oxide.-Porous barium oxide suitable for conversion into barium peroxide is obtained by heating to a high temperature, for instance, from 600-1000‹ C., a mixture of dehydrated barium hydrate such as can be obtained according to Specification 27,587/08, with barium peroxide or nitrate or other barium compound, other than a carbon compound, capable of giving off a gas so as to keep the material in a porous condition. The mixture is heated on a furnace bed, which is preferably composed of, or covered with, barium oxide.
