Feeding webs.-The frame of a machine for measuring cloth is provided at the ends with standards j, k, the rear ones of which are provided with casings b, Fig. 13, provided with recessed portions d to receive flanged holders f having conical recesses g which receive the devices that hold the fabric. The holders f are movable against the springs i to allow of the insertion of these devices, the springs also restraining the rotation of the holders f. Somewhat similar casings are provided on the front brackets, and one of the holders is adapted to be rotated by a handle p through gearing s, t. The holders for the material are mounted on conical stems, which fit into the recesses g and may consist of kerfed T-pieces to hold cards as shown, or may have disks provided with points, or conical heads, when rollers are employed for giving off and taking up the material.
