25,606. Hollingworth, E., [Crompton & Knowles Loom Works]. Nov. 6. Weft-replenishing mechanism. - In a loom having automatic weft-replenishing mechanism, the weft-feeler is actuated pneumatically. When the shuttle enters the shuttle box, it presses aside a piece 9<1>, and thus expands an air-bellows 8, which sucks air from another bellows 7 arranged to draw the feeler 16 into an opening in the side of the shuttle. When the weft is substantially exhausted, the feeler 16 moves into the shuttle far enough to turn a catch 20 and disengage a spring-pressed lever 21, the end 25 of which sets into operation the weft-replenishing mechanism. Fig. 6 shows a modified arrangement of weft-feeler, in which a toothed part 37 turns relatively to a toothed part 351 when the weft is substantially exhausted. This relative movement allows a plate 33, carried by the bellows 7, to turn farther than it otherwise would, and this allows the plate 33 to actuate the weft-replenishing mechanism.
