Abstract

Gill boxes.-Relates to gill boxes of the kind which comprise spring cushions for the fallers and operating-screws in which a portion of the circumference is removed for the reception of broad lifting - tappets. A yielding or elastic guide or latch 7, Fig. 1, is provided, which is compressed by the passage of a faller and automatically resumes its position under the faller after its passage. The spring cushion 15 is maintained at a slightly higher level than the slide 16 to which the fallers are being transferred, and the fallers are guided by a spring-actuated guide 14 in their fall. Fig. 3 shows a form in which the guide or latch 7 is operated by a spiral spring 9.
