Abstract

Liquids, purifying; filtering-media.-Iron present in water is removed by the action of the higher oxides of manganese, obtained by the treatment of permanganates with natural or artificial zeolites. The resulting precipitate is removed by filtration. The lower oxides of manganese in the precipitate may be re-oxidized for further use by treatment with compounds which readily yield up oxygen, such as permanganates, manganates, persulphates, and ozone.
