Abstract

Mechanically operated from vehicle.-In apparatus of the type in which a pin &c. is 'caused by the wheels of the vehicles to rise above the track ready for lateral actuation by an adjustable plate on the vehicles, the pin is carried on one end of a lever 3 adapted to rock in both vertical and horizontal planes, the other end of the lever being connected, through a movable fork-piece 16, directly to the points 17. The pin 10 is automatically raised by the pressure of the vehicle wheels on the plunger 20, connected by the bar 22 to the lever 3. The pin 10 and the lever 3 are caused to move about the vertical pivot 8 by the action of the plate 26, carried by the vehicle and adapted to be set in either of the positions A, B, Fig. 2, by the system of links shown in plan in Fig. 12. The links are operated from either end of the car by a foot-lever connected to the rods 33. On electric tramways, the overhead conductor points may be operated from the same apparatus. The Provisional Specification also describes a modified construction in which the vehicle wheels reset the lever 3 after the points are passed.
