Metallic spring bodies and cores.-A spring tyre comprises two series of elements a, b, Fig. 1, of tempered strip steel bent into the form of rings, of different diameters and arranged alternately so that the smaller elements b fit into the ends of the larger elements a. The ends of the strips a are riveted together at c. One end of each strip b is left free and is provided with a tongue e to form a distancepiece between the elements a, to which the other end of the strip b is riveted at a. The tyre may be secured by means of a contractible band f, Fig. 4, provided with lugs h and a bolt g, in which case one of the elements b<1> is left free so that it can be telescoped into the adjacent elements to allow manipulation of the securing means, and is secured by the set-screw i.
