In order to be able to convert, during an emergency, an aerial machine that is not automatically stable into one that is automatically stable, the machine is provided with a pair of fore- and-aft sustaining-planes and a pair of lateral planes, all normally horizontal and pivoted so that by a single movement of a hand-lever the planes of each pair can be inclined to one another, with the outer edges raised. Means may also be piovided for stopping the motors at the same time as the planes are inclined. The supporting-planes A are arranged in pairs and pivoted en a spindle C, which is provided with a defending arm C<1> connected by links E to arms F secured to a block G. The block G is rotated to incline the planes of each pair towards one another by a hand-lever H. The movement of the hand-lever breaks a contact L in the circuit of the motor ignition.
