Straight-bar machines. - Apparatus for supplying additional or plating threads to the needles of Cotton or other machines for the production of vertical striped goods or embroidery comprises thread-feeders A mounted to slide in supporting-bars B, suitable movements being imparted by means of cams, pattern mechanism, &c. The supporting-bars B are divided into a central section corresponding to the instep needles, and side sections, mounted on shafts F, G respectively, which are traversed in common, but can be rocked independently. The slotted rear ends of the feeders A are connected to arms O<1>, N' carried on shafts O, N, which can be actuated independently to select and change the threads and increase the variety of patterns. The shafts F, G, O, N are mounted in brackets H depending from a shaft J carried in arms K mounted on a shaft L. The lower ends of the brackets H work in slotted arms M<1> by which an horizontal movement is imparted. The feeders, when in action, are lowered by movement of the shaft L, passed through the needles by a movement of the shaft M and then traversed and returned to the inactive position.
