Abstract

18,578. Heath, S. Aug. 12. Screw propellers.-Comprises a screw propeller formed from a blank of sheet aluminium, or an alloy of aluminium, by folding the blank over a pattern 10 constructed in sections. The pattern by this means may be withdrawn after the material is folded about it. The pattern may also be made of easily fusible metal. The parts 12, 13, 14 are supported at their ends by wedge-shaped pieces 18 secured to a block 16, and are united to the block 16 at their centres by a pin 10 also passing through the centre of the blank 15. The blank 15 is then bent over the form and riveted along the edge 24 to the face 22. The central portions 26, 27 pass one over the other aod form a hollow centre part to the propeller. The edges of the blades may be doubled back upon themselves to increase the rigidity. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 510/65.
