17,077. Johnston, H. B. July 22. Cams.-Relates to mechanism for cutting screw or cam threads of variable pitch. Rotatably fitted on the shaft b, carrying one of the pinions of the ordinary change-wheel mechanism, is a bracket c carrying an additional toothed wheel d, which gears with a wheel e adjustably secured to the change wheel a' by a pivot pin a<2> and a pin &c. h engaging one of a series of holes g in the wheel e. A bridge-piece f connects the axes of the wheels d, e. By adjusting the wheel e eccentrically to the wheel a', the variation in pitch of the screw-thread is effected.
