Abstract

16,300. Bullock, W. E., and Calcott, J. July 13. Non-metallic substances, depositing.-To protect iron or steel articles from rusting, they are boiled in a mixture containing phosphoric acid, while electric current is passed to them from anodes, which may be of cast iron, for about half an hour. A suitable mixture consists of a pint of 20 per cent phosphoric acid and two ounces of iron filings to six pints of water.
