Abstract

15,570. Haddan, H. J., [Oil and Waste Saving Machine Co.]. July 3. Recovering waste lubricating-oils.-The oil is purified in a centrifugal machine fitted with a conical shell lined with filtering-material, the oil being caused to flow along the shell behind the material; several such shells may be arranged concentrically. The oil may be freed from water bv passing over steam coils &c. as it leaves the filtering-device. In the apparatus shown, the cones 6, 9, 10 are carried on the hollow shaft 4, which serves as a feeding-device in the steam-jacketed casing 2. The cones 6, 9, 10 are lined with wire-gauze 7, within which is filtering-material 8. The apparatus may be driven by a turbine 20. The steam-jacket 3 may be replaced by coils; or, in a form specially fitted for freeing the oil from water, both jacket and coils may be provided.
