Abstract

Counters with reducing-gear.-In a counter for indicating the length of fabric woven by a loom, three toothed wheels of equal diameter, but with a different number of teeth, gear with a wheel on the winding-roller ; the centre wheel is provided with two pointers which indicate, on scales carried by the outer wheels, the length of fabric woven. A wheel attached to the winding-roller spindle gears with the three wheels a, b, c, of which the wheel a has the same number of teeth as the wheel on the winding-spindle, the wheel b one tooth less, and the wheel c one tooth more. To the hub of the wheel b, two pointers d, e are attached to give indications on the scales on the side of the wheels a, c, so that when the pointer d has completed one revolution the pointer e will point to the "1" graduation on the wheel c. Zeroizing-mechanism.-The wheels are held in place by a key-plate h which, when pushed up, can be slid along the shaft g, allowing the wheels to be moved out of gear and turned by hand to the zero position.
