Abstract

15,163. Baxter, W. June 29. Piles.-The lower tapering part B of a bolt A is tubular and split into two or more parts, and is driven on to and expanded by a plug D, which may take the shape shown in Fig. 4 when the tube B is split into two parts only. The tube B has inwardly bevelled edges C for cutting into the surrounding substance, the waste material being forced up the slit E; or cement &c. in a semi - plastic condition may be first run in and forced up the slits. The head of the bolt may take a nut and washer for anchoring tramway rails, or it may take the form of a ring, hook, &c., and it may be used for securing concrete, wooden, and like piles in stone &c.
