Abstract

13,628. Letzel, W. June 10. Spring power storing mechanism. - In a spring-driven starting-device for internal-combustion engines, when the drum 4 is freed to drive the engine shaft 2 through chain gearing, a cam 33 on the drum engages a lever 34 and through another lever 36 rocks a sleeve 40, which, being provided with an inclined slot 40 engaging a fixed pin 41, moves axially and throws the clutch 21 into gear, the shaft 3 being then rotated by worm and bevel gearing 54, 25, 26 to wind up the spring. When the spring is wound up, a cam 45, on a nut rotating with the wheel 26 on a screw 30 connected with the drum 4, engages a lever 34 and disengages the clutch 21.
