Coils and conductors.-The self-induction of partially or wholly embedded conductors is reduced, and sparking at the brushes thus reduced, by connecting, in parallel with them, auxiliary conductors s disposed in the air-gap externally to the slots. The auxiliary conductors may be laminated, and are connected to the main conductors either at points external to the magnetic field or at any number of intermediate points. The invention is applicable to rotating armatures; the stationary parts of alternators, or any other winding in which reduced self-induction is required in combination with security against displacement.
