Abstract

P a d l o c k s.-In padlocks of the Scandinavian type, the bolt-shackle B is formed from a solid piece of metal a n d is provided with a slot C in place of the usual hook. In Fig. 3, the padlock is shown in the unlocked position, with the slot C and a corresponding slot E in the casing adapted to receive a notched hasp-piece D, Fig. 5. When the padlock has been placed on the hasp, and the bolt B moved downwards by means of suitable lock mechanism, the two notches F in the hasp are engaged by the bolt and the casing respectively, as shown in Fig. 2. The hasp D may be in two portions, each being on one of the parts to be fastened, and the two portions being adapted to be secured together by the padlock.
