Abstract

7187. Handcock, H. W., Dykes, A. H., Rawlings, J. J., and Dieselhorst, W. March 25. Armouring conductors.-Conductors are sheathed with a metallic strip applied longitudinally in approximately two or more complete turns, as described in Specification 24,348/08, by tinning the strip a on both sides and drawing it longitudinally through dies together with the conductor b to be covered. Flux is supplied from the pads c ; the die d folds one half of the strip, and the folding is completed by one or more dies e ; the final hot finishing-die g clinches the whole together. Gas burners may be provided to keep the strip hot, and a water jet h may cool the conductor as it leaves the last die.
